NEW: ADwin-Gold
a Fast and Robust Real-Time System

Please click here to download the ADwin brochure (PDF, 1.3 MB)

The successful Real-Time System ADwin-Gold offers an additional NEW version with D-SUB connectors for all I/Os. These D-SUB connectors can provide concentrated signals on a single cable, often used in machine building applications. Now each user has the choice to select: BNC connectors for single signal cables or D-SUB connectors.

The ADwin-Gold system follows the standard ADwin concept with a local CPU, memory, analog & digital inputs/outputs on a single system. It is designed in a robust metal enclosure and has to be connected to a PC or a notebook computer via Ethernet or USB.

ADwin-Gold has 16 differential analog inputs. There are two input blocks, with 8 analog inputs each, connected to a multiplexer. The multiplexer outputs are connected with two different ADCs: a 14-bit ADC (0.5 µs) to execute very fast measurements and a 16-bit ADC (5 µs) for highly accurate measurements. The ADCs can be started in synchronous or asynchronous mode.

The standard version of the ADwin-Gold system is equipped with two analog outputs with 16-bit resolution, optionally up to eight are possible. The full range settling (FSR) time (20 V) is 10 µs, FSR/10 (2V) is 3µs. A synchronous update of the DAC outputs is possible. The system has 32 user-defined, TTL-compatible digital I/Os, configurable in groups of eight as input or output, and a trigger input (EVENT). The trigger input is used for external control of program sequences.

The counter option ADwin-G-CO1 provides four 32-bit counters for period width measurement, pulse measurement, or encoder interface. The bootloader option ADwin-G-Boot allows standalone operations (only in combination with Ethernet interface).

In the D-SUB version the counter offers SSI functionalities too, as well as digital serial interfaces like RS-xx or CAN in the future, too.

ADwin-Gold Real-Time Intelligent Data acquisition functionalities
Generally spoken intelligent or complex trigger conditions are based on results of a combination of events and parameters of measurement signals. The ADwin-Gold enables the user to program any mathematical online operations in every sampling step. Thus it its possible to set the results into any logic-mathematical relation, and therefore each measurement value can be checked if the required trigger conditions have been hit. As a consequence only those measurement data with information are acquired, the rest is rejected. Therefore an intelligent trigger condition also results in a powerful data reduction during the measurement data acquisition, and even with high sampling rates of some hundred kHz it is possible to acquire data for hours, days and weeks.

Key features:

  • Online evaluation of measurement data, executed immediately after each done sample
  • Multiplexed and parallel synchronized sampling
  • Complex triggering conditions, high sampling rates
  • Online measurement data processing and data reduction
  • Free programmable mathematical operations : statistics, RMS, min/max, mean, integral, derivation, correlation, digital filters, FFT, signal analysis, etc.
  • Angular synchronous data acquisition and analysis
  • True RMS online calculation
  • High speed data acquisition with boundary curve evaluation with alarm functions
  • Detection of signal interruptions (peaks) on relays, switches, connectors, boards, during environmental and endurance tests, closed contact monitoring and analysis
  • Statistic online evaluation of particles in a stream of gas, fluids, etc.
  • ..... etc.

ADwin-Gold Real-Time Signal generation functionalities
Because of the ADwin-Gold Real-Time capabilites, it is easily possible to create any kind of periodical or non-periodical signal, calculated online by the ADwin-Gold CPU. Single-channel or multi-channel signal generators for analog and/or digital signals can be created. Frequency, phase shift, amplitude, offset, and many other signal properties can be corrected online in Real-Time. In order to create multi-frequency signals, it is possible to superimpose different signal forms. Generated signals can be time-controlled, angle-controlled based on encoder inputs, or trigger-controlled, so that even complex applications are possible.

Key features:

  • Multi-channel waveform generation
  • Analog and/or digital signals
  • Signal types: periodical or non-periodical, random, defined peaks, multi frequency signals, many other combinations
  • Arbitrary waveform generation
  • Adaptive signal generation, based on measured input feedbacks in Real-Time
  • All signal properties are online adjustable: frequency, phase, amplitude, offset, timing, ...
  • Parallel synchronized DAC update
  • Up to 8 analog channels or 32 digital channels
  • ..... etc.

ADwin-Gold Real-Time Control, Open- and Closed-Loop-Controls
The ADwin-Gold offers the possibility to run fast digital Open-Loop-Controllers or Closed-Loop-Controllers. These controllers are running in parallel to other jobs like data acquisition or signal generation on the same ADwin-Gold system. You can run closed-loop-controllers like PID, PI, cascade controllers, deatbeat controllers, adaptive controllers, and many others. Because of the CPU' s free programmable and multitasking capabilities, it is easily possible to run different controller types on the same system with different control-cycle-times.

Key features:

  • Open-Loop-Controller based on formulas or lookup tables
  • Typical PID for speed between 500 Hz and 2xchannel @ 200kHz each
  • Multiple controllers simultaneously
  • Different control algorithms and cycle times for parallel controllers
  • Completely free definable Open-Loop-Controllers
  • Controllers are 100% deterministic and reliable
